Slope-Intercept Calculator (y = mx + b)

A controller's raw A/D range on one side, the real-world engineering range on the other. Pick a common panel preset or enter your own — get the scaling parameters your controller actually asks for.

Works offline. Every calculation runs on your device, no signal needed. Install the BAS Field Reference app to keep it on your phone.

How to use it

  1. Pick your controller/point type — this fills in the raw range, or choose Custom and enter it yourself.
  2. Enter the engineering range that raw range is supposed to represent.
  3. The tool gives you slope (m) and offset (b) — enter those into your controller's custom scaling parameters.
  4. Use the check-a-value row to spot-check a real reading before you trust it.

More where this came from

This calculator comes out of BAS Field Fundamentals — the meter tests, the maths and the failure modes for every sensor, drive and control loop in the building, plus 20 field cases and a browser simulator to practice on.
